How can I get correct pressure on a 1 HP flow tech jet deep well pump? I just got a new 1 HP flow tech jet deep well pump. I set it up like I had the previous pump, which was working fine. However, I am not getting past 15 PSI on my pressure gauge. I have already primed the pump 2 or 3 times, but it doesn't go past 15 PSI. I want to know what I need to do. Any tips?
Shallow well jet pump question? My pump has suddenly started kicking on about once a minute. Even when water is not being used. I KNOW there is no leak anywhere in the system. Why would the system lose pressure and need to kick on? Frankly, I don't understand how the water stays under pressure in the pressure tank....why doesn't the water go back into the well as soon as the pump turns off> I suspect that the jet pump has some type of device built in that prevents the water from flowing back....and that this is where my problem lies. Is there a simple seal that I can replace? Your help is greatly appreciated in advance.
Which efficiency is better in cooling Water Flow Rate (One Way) around a Reciprocating Pump. Fast or Slow ? In my Water Jet Granite Cutting M/c. the reciprocating water pump works at 70,000psi. There is a one way water cooling system around the pump. What flow rate is better, Fast or Slow ? to maintain the reciprocating pump.
I need help troubleshooting my shallow well jet pump.? My pipes froze and I got them unthawed. Now my pump won't pump. I have a shallow well jet pump. I primed it and got water flowing good. Then after about an hour I turned the water on and the pressure gradually decreased until there wasn't any at all. I checked for leaks and found a small one on the line that goes to the house. I repaired it and primed it again and had water flowing good. As I was in the shower the pressure once again decreased until there wasn't any at all. I checked again for more leaks. No leaks. I primed it again and have nothing! I tried priming it a few times and every time I prime it the same thing happens. It comes out with great pressure and then slows down to nothing. I'm lost now and don't know what else to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a well. I use my pond as my water source and have not had any problems until now.

im having a well problem, is my pump bad? my pump is not building up as much pressure as it did two weeks ago, all of a sudden it has a major loss of flow and i had to reajust the pressure switch for it to even shut off, the pressure goes down slowly from 45 psi untill it hits twenty then drops all the way to ten in an instant and has just a trickle coming out of the spickit and the pump kicks back on at 20psi but will not repressurise past 35 psi untill i shut the spickit back off and it takes probably 5 minuits to get it back up to 45 to shut the pump back off, I have a flint and walling jet pump on top of a 2- 2 and a quarter inch steel pipe in a well house, it is a 1hp. motor 110/230v model 94h110 i hope i gave enough info. what are some things to check? and what other things could it be?

Plumbing: Water flow stops.? Hi. We're on a jet pump and have been having trouble with breaks in our water flow. We had a house fire in April that involved very minor plumbing repairs, but afterward we noticed that the water would stop for a second or two every once in a while but always kick back in at full pressure and be fine. We're also in an area that had drought up until a few weeks ago, so my husband thought it might be drought related. My father is convinced it's the water heater protecting itself from running dry. I don't quite understand how that would work. Now the breaks have gotten longer and longer-- up to a minute now. I've been investigating a bit and can say that the pressure and water supply seem fine. We have water as soon as the pump kicks in-- it's just taking longer for the pump to kick in. Any ideas? I'm thinking if I call the pump man I'll get another new pump and if I call the water heater guy I'll get another new water heater. They're both relatively new :) Thanks!!
What is causing my well pump to pick up air? I have a shallow well jet pump. About a month or two back I started noticing that we were getting bursts of air in the water from the faucets. Suddenly one day it shot out one last burst of air and the water stopped flowing. We called a plumber and they came and got it pumping again but shortly after that we had the same problem. I primed the pump and got it pumping water, but after using the water and bringing the pressure down in the tank to the point the pump kicks on we get the air and the water stops flowing. Every time this happens the pump seems to have lost its prime. We had a well company come in and look at it and they said the pump is cavitating. The well/pump company replaced the pump (said it was damaged probably due to the cavitation) with a new one. The new pump has the same problem with the cavitation but they affixed a release valve that releases the air and keeps the pump primed. It seems to be working for the moment but they say that this doesn't fix the underlying problem, but we'll have water for now. The company wants to dig out the well and replace the line that goes into the well and add a pitless adapter and new casing (the well casing is broken). The well company doesn't think the line is leaking though, they said if the line was leaking we should be losing pressure when the pump shuts off. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter, thanks.
Pool Pump Motor Noise..? I bought a house about 2 months ago that has an in ground pool. Everything has been going well until about a week ago. After back-washing, rinsing, and restarting the pump, it now makes a high pitched humming noise while running, and the motor casing is hot to the touch. Also, the water flow through the pool jets seems to be slightly diminished, maybe by about 25%. I've also noticed that after cleaning the pool, it takes less than an hour before debris starts appearing on the bottom of the pool. I assume it's being blown back into the water through the jets. Do any of you have any ideas what might be going on here? It almost sounds like the pump flow is restricted somehow, causing the motor to strain to pump water. But all the filters are clean, and I can't find any restrictions that are visible. I am a newbie when it comes to pools...so any help would be much appreciated! :-) Thanks!! Thanks for the answers! Yes..I've cleaned the filter in the front of the pump, and have used the "rinse" setting after backwashing. There is a "waste" setting on the valve, but I've never used it. The previous owner said he never did either. Is that something I need to do? Also..I felt inside the pump and turned the impeller..it seems a bit tight to me..but I'm not sure how it's supposed to feel. Any more thoughts on this? Thanks!!
Hot Tub Pump only stays on for 10 seconds at a time, then stops for 2 minutes before repeating.? I just replaced my pump (Waterway Executive 4hp pump) on my Catalina Spa and fired it up. For some reason, the pump turns on for 10 seconds and the jets flow, but then it shuts off immediately. It remains idle for 2 minutes and then turns on again for 10 seconds. This cycle has been repeating endlessly as far as I can tell since installing the pump a couple days ago. Also, there are no error messages on the spa's readout display, only shows the temperature like normal. Any ideas?
Goin to buy a 1998 Seadoo XP Limited ... whatcha thing?? This is a 98 Sea Doo XP Limited. Equipped with the powerful Sea Doo 951cc twin cylinder engine and dual Mikuni Carbs. R&D aluminum air filter. I have always ran AMSOIL products in it. It has VTS which allows the rider to direct the flow of the jet nozzle. The jet pump is brass lined rather than solid plastic which is found in most XP's. There is a NuJet impeller for superior bottom and top end speed. It has many extras including a custom blue paint job, matching seat cover, UMI handle bars with matching hand grips, dual finger throttle, Hydro Turf foot pads, splash guard. I am always receiving compliments on the machine about how sharp and new it looks. The Trailer is a 92 Triton aluminum single place trailer what do you think about that?? and also any opinions on the seadoo?? also is $3700 a good price it has about 35 hours on the new motor thanks
Cal Spas hot tub flash "FL", low flow.? Checked the pump, it looks good. When tub is turned on , the pump come on, led shows FL. Did get to start heating, but when engage jet it would stop pumping and led would go to FL.
Required pump power for the "tallest fountain in the world"? A project for one of my fluid-mechanics classes is to design and configure the tallest water fountain in the world. Part of the requirements is to find the required pumping power. Take for example a jet diameter of 0.350m. Using Bernoulli's equation you can find that the velocity needed to reach a height of say, 400m, with no losses, is around 85m/s. I don't have my calculator handy but it's around there. Next, you need to know the mass flow rate - which is simply (density)*(area)*(velocity). So 998*0.09*85 is somewhere around 8500kg/s. From what I derived, and checked on the units, Power is essentially (mass flow rate)*(g)*(height). Doing this calculation provides an extremely huge number...upwards of 40,000hp. Now, doing some research on other fountains show that one capable of a jet of almost 200m high requires only 2 or 3 800hp pumps. (Info for King Fahd's fountain, which is THE tallest, was unable to be found). So my question is this - where am I going wrong? Conservation of energy and units would say that I'm correct, but the number is over ten times what I expected. Any help is appreciated. In response to Dave: .350m was selected due to comparison to other fountains. For example, the Karachi Port Trust fountain off the coast of Pakistan uses "specially designed 8 inch nozzles". Another one, in AZ, is said to use one 18" nozzle. http://www.fountainhillsguide.com/attrac_fountain.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Fountain Could you get a jet of water only 1" in diameter to over 1300ft in the air? This doesn't seem possible without any dispersion or any other losses. To Ernest: The velocity at the top of the fountain is zero. This is because the water reaches a peak, and stops moving. That is where sqrt(2*g*h) comes from. Tell me what you get. Dave, I also went into it and calculated the diameter of Jet d'Eau, and found it to be just over 13cm. What do you get?
Do I need a booster pump for waterfall added to pool? I recently added a waterfall which falls into both my pool and my spa. I have a 2 1/2HP circ pump and a 3/4 HP Booster pump for the Polaris, but the flow seems low. When I have the waterfall valve open, the return jets open, and the valve to some fountains open they just don't give alot of flow. I have to partially close off some of the valves to get the waterfall and fountain to give adequate flow. I am wondering if adding a booster pump just for the water fall will help, or do I need to purchase another circ pump to get the flow up?
Can I run E-85 [ethanol fuel] through a carbureted Rochester MV4 4bbl without PORTING the fuel/air intake jets I have given a lot of consideration to converting to ''flex'' and using alcohol in this old truck. Since I have a 4bbl on it, can I go straight to e-85 with only external modifications [changing fuel pump pressure and fuel lines]. I do not want to get involved in opening up the intake and air flow jets that need to be widened on a 2bbl.
Ran out of water I need help!? I have a shallow well with a convertible jet pump. We have a 300 gallon reservoir that fills because it is a slow flow. Anyhow I am wondering if the reservoir will still fill if the pump is off. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Fluid Dynamics Question. Thrust of a jet ski? The thrust developed to propel a jet ski is the result of water pumped through the vehicle and exiting as a high-speed water jet. For the conditions shown in the figure, what flow rate is needed to produce a 300-lb-thrust? Assume the inlet and exit jets of water are free jets. The figure shows water entering a jet ski upwards at 30 degrees, the inlet area is 25 in.2 and the diameter of the outlet jet is 3.5 in. I've been working on this problem for a while now and I can't figure it out. Any equations, guidance, answers are appreciated. Thank you
Can I burn methanol in this engine? I have a single cylinder petrol engine with an intake manifold and carby made entirely of brass and the carby has an adjustable main jet to increase fuel flow. Can I run this engine on a mixture of gasoline and methanol without adding corrosion inhibitors? This is not a race engine but an old stationary engine driving a water pump.
Why am I loosing water from my spa? I have had an ongoing problem with the hot tub loosing between 50 and 150 gallons a day. The loss of watter keeps getting worse too. I understand that some water is being lost due to evaporation although this should be minimal because it is an indoor spa. I am very sure I am not loosing it out of the waist line because I have a ball valve in place on that line. I have also noticed that the recirculating pump takes longer and longer to prime (sometimes 20 minuets or more. And the separate jet pump (with no clear reason as to why, ie: impeller is in good shape motor turns as it should ect) no longer primes up no matter how long it is let run. Note: flow volume has decreased by about 1/2 over the course of 3 mos.
With car off, am i suppose to see gasoline come out of the jets of the carberator when i turn the throttle? Because im trying to check if my accelerator pump is good or not... but i was told to have the car off, pull the throttle and see if there is an even flow of gasoline coming out of the jets.
1996 klf300 bayou problems? please help.? ok when i try to start my four wheeler it just keeps turning and i have to reach into the carb and pump the valve vacume ( think its called that. its black and plastic. moves up and down ) to get it to run. takes about 15 mins of toying with it and pressing gas. the carb is also spitting out alot of gas. also it will not stay idiold .. if i let off the gas it will go dead.... - i rebuilt carb, and adjusted the air flow jet two turns back from all the way in. has new spark plug. please help if u can.
i see my 1995 tiger shark jet ski is not receiving gas to the carb? the carb is a 2 stroke, i see no gas going into it. the inlet gas line seems to be clogged, if i try to suck gas out, it just feels like its clogged and if i put an air pump into it the same thing happens, this is while the jet ski is not being turned on. im not sure if thats how its suppose to be. the outlet gas line is free (airpath goes flows through it) i rebuild the jet ski and if i pour a little bit of gas into the carb the jetski will turn on until the gas is burned off. is there an easy way to see if the in line insite the gas tank is clogged? the in line that connects from the carb to the gas tank is freed up(air flow passes through it) ok i got the above problem resolved, the l connection thats hooked up to the gas tank was clogged. but now i notice that water comes out from one of the pistons. what could make this happen? water in the engine or a blown gasket? and what steps should i take to get this solved?

How can I get my Hydramax II self priming pool pump to prime? I am trying to care for a pool that has been let go. I cleaned the old Anthony filter that had all the white grids replaced at the end of last season. I put yellow out in the pool with the right amount of shock. I just can't get the pump to prime. I fill the water to the fill line and it just drains right out. I have tried stopping the jets on the sides from flowing, but the water still drains. I fill the pump, put the lid on quick as I turn it on, but it doesn't prime. What am I doing wrong? I also flushed out the line from the skimmer basket.
I can't get air to flow out of my hot tub jets.? I have two air intakes on the hot tub. I can open them both and no air will come out of the jets on their own. I can I blow in them with a pipe and air comes out, but not own their own. I have a 2 speed pump, and no air on either speed. Any ideas? It's the jets connected to the pump, not the blower. The blower works fine, but those holes are in the seats. I mean the jets water comes through. No leaks ( I can see all around the tub). When I blow into the air intakes on the side of the tub, I get all kinds of air out of the jets. But it wont on it's own.
Need help troubleshooting pool vacuum line? The pump is working and water is flowing thru it. The two jets are moving water around. There are no pool leaks. The vacuum line has no suction so the baracuda g3 won't clean the pool.
Hot tub keeps tripping breaker? Our hotub just got serviced (new heating element and new breaker) and we filled it up and started heating it up. Well we thought it would heat quicker if we ran the high jets. So for about 2 hours we ran the high jets and then it shut off. Now when i click the high jet(flow) button it automatically shuts the system down. The heating element is good because it is still heating up the tub. Should we just wait it out till tomorrow? I figure we just put too big of a load on the breaker or gfci. Idk what to do, someone suggested bleeding the pump? But the tub worked for 2-3 hours perfectly. Please help.
Why doesn't school teach us about Muslim inventors? I was doing some research and everything from the reciprocating piston engine (Al-Jazari), camera (Al-Haytham), battery (Iraq), jet propulsion (Muslim Spain), flow regulators (Al-Jazari), automatons (Al-Jazari), parabolic mirrors/camera lens (Al-Haytham), Algebra/Trigonometry (Muhammad bin Mūsā al-Khwārizmī), and even the Soviets used an Arab from some country called Uzikstan to oversee and develop the first rocket to reach space. Man, even the airplane has a Muslim foundation since it was a Muslim who first applied the concept of aerodynamics and both the propeller (China) and engine (Iraq) used wasn't developed by the Europeans. Even jet propulsion has an Arab foundation with Al-Rammah's purification of pottassium nitrate and the use of flow regulators to to pump petrol into his water-based siege weapons, which was propelled by a jet. Guns, cannons, and even the lenses of Al-Haytham's camera were used by the Europeans to eventually make todays civilization. An Egyptian.... I am half-native american and half French, yet ppl say I have "Egyptian Eyes".... Anyway, I don't think that the Chinese or any other singular race is as advanced as mixed races like the Egyptians or Arabs in general... I believe its called Zygosity. Anyway, the Persians gave us everything to live a clean, sustainable civilization and we took it from them, called it our own, and sent them off to live in a tretirement home without visiting them.... if this were not true then I wouldn't have to feel sorry for people when playing Call of Duty. My reflexes and aim are pretty much synchronized to the point of me being unbeatable in a 1 on 1 situation. I also only played a game called Command and Conquer red alert 2, for exacltly one year, and I've beaten a person who was ranked 2nd in a tournement..... If you ever play me at Call of Duty rifles only, I do a spin every time I have to reload when dueling. Don't forget that it is me.... I won't say you don't have a chance, coz you do.... k1llers>>>Shogun. or just: Shogun.
Why does school and the media try to portray Arabs as dumb, yet they're probably the smartest.? It seems that the Europeans didn't contribute to civilization untill the 1800s with the industrial "revolution". I think the Arabs knew the consequences of using petrol and electricity as an energy source. You see, the Arabs are very clean ppl. They invented shampoo, soap, flush toilets, sewer systems, toothpaste, and are known since ancient times to make frivolus inventions. Seeing that they (Iraq) figured out how to harness electricity almost 2000 years before Europeans, I truly beleive they're the "fathers" who LET their 'child' surpass them in a sense only to be betrayed.... pretty dishonorable of you guys.... I'm half native and half french, but I'd rather be more native because of this fact..... Again, as some1 here has said, they DO NOT want this civilization, otherwise Al-Jazari would have made less frivolus inventions. Indeed, a water-raising device (suction pumps), sewer-systems, and flush-toilets are all that was needed for them to be happy. You actually think they couldn't have made the same iventions such as the TV and whatnot that is BASED on Al-Haytham's parabolic mirrors and lenses to make microscopes. If this were true, the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, wouldn't have been able to make Nuclear fusion, send a rocket into space, and manufactor more reliable and efficient electronics independentaly. I have made this arguement before and they said that the Japs "copyed" Euros... Then I suppose Einstein also copyed the Maya's vast, vast books on the essence and reckoning of time...
Help with fixing Dishwasher Whirlpool Quiet Partner 3? Dishwasher was making a lot of noise before it quit. Sounded like possibly a bearing going out in the pump motor. I went through all the supply lines to the jets inside and found nothing blocking or clogging the water flow. Dishwasher will still drain the water out, and fill up but just will not cycle mechanically. Digitally on the control it thinks its cycling. We have only had this one for a year. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Is it the pump motor? Thanks,

79 Bronco Carburetor problem!!!!!!!!!!? I have a 79 Bronco with rebuilt 400m, msd electronic advance, and it has a cam but im not sure the size. I just bought a 770 holley 4 barrel truck avenger carb and everything works fine except it bogs and stalls if I punch it at all. I have a new fuel pump, and high flow filter. Idle and jets are set right and if I start by feathering it and build up speed it does fine. Could it be to big of cfm of maybe I need larger fuel hard lines to tank?
I need info on an infiniti pool, please read on.? I look after a house that has an infiniti pool.. there is a trough in which the spillage water goes into, but once in the trough, it never seems to exit and get sent back into the pool. Isn't that what is supposed to happen with the over flow water.. is there something I should be looking for in the pump house.. the filter system is on, water is coming out thru the jets, but the water is not coming from the trough.. Help the pool is brand new, and I think there is something major wrong with it. Canadian Tuxedo ..huh? bob.. I am Canadian.. nothing can daunt us or deter us.. we rule.
Lean fuel mixture on 97 Pontiac grand am? i have a 97 pontiac grand am GT. I have a Jet chip power control which is suppose to give me the best air fuel mixture for my car. My cars idles high sometimes when it is started cold, and even sometimes while driving. The check engine light came on a while ago telling me it has a lean fuel mixture. I also have a cool air intake, and Summit 40,000 volt coils. Would purchasing a high flow electric fuel pump solve my problem. I suspect i am getting too much air, and not enough fuel
85 F150 L6 Wont Run Timing or Carb? I recently have been through some obstacles with my Carbureted 85 F150. It all started when I swapped out the old rusty side mount fuel tank with a brand new one. A few miles in with the new tank I had a sudden loss of most power and had to limp it to where I was going. When I got there I noticed the exhaust manifold was glowing red hot, as well as the first few feet of straight pipe (no cat.) The next day I came back to find the manifold and exhaust pipe pretty deteriorated and with a red hue to them. I was able to start the truck and it ran, though very rough. The day after I came back and the truck would not start at all and was doing a lot of backfiring through the exhaust. I diagnosed a no spark and replaced the distributor cap and the rotor as well as the ignition. Still no spark. I then removed the distributor to find the pin holding the gear on had failed and the gear was spinning freely, and not turning the distributor. Based in the condition of the distributor pick-up and control module I decided to replace the entire distributor. I lined up Cylinder 1 at TDC, on what I was sure was the compression stroke, and re-installed the distributor. I sprayed some starting fluid in the carb and gave her hell. All I got was backfires and flames through the carb. At least I had spark, but it looked like I was out of time. I removed the distributor, lined up TDC again and re-installed it. Now it will start, run VERY rough for a couple of seconds, then die and shoot some smoke out the carb. The troubling thing is every time I get to TDC on cylinder 1, the timing mark is right around 180 degrees off, and every time I line up the timing mark with TDC on the Timing Cover, cylinder 1 is nowhere close to TDC. I also suspect my carb might be at play. I have tested all the lines and the mechanical fuel pump and am getting a good flow to the carb. When I push the accelerator I am also seeing a good flow of fuel from the jet in the carb as well. What else should I be checking? I am starting to run out of ideas!!
Gauge Pressure Help!!? A fountain shoots a jet of water 12 m into the air. The fountain has a round nozzle of diameter 0.624 cm at ground level, fed by a pump located 6 m below ground through a round pipe of diameter 1.44 cm. What is the gauge pressure of the water at the pump? Assume steady, laminar flow of water, no viscosity, and no air drag on the water jet. The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2 . Answer in units of kPa.
Thermodynamics question? Hi, I have this problem and another one but the question for this one is A cutting tool uses a nozzle that generates a high-speed jet of liquid water. Assume an exit velocity of 1000 m s of 20°C liquid water with a jet diameter of 2 mm . How much mass flow rate is this? What size (power) pump is needed to generate this from a steady supply of 20°C liquid water at 200 kPa. if someone could show me how to solve this problem I would be really appreciate it Thanks everybody
What kind of Phobia is this ?? , Fear of Deep Water Equipment? ok ive been trying to find what phobia this is for most of my adult life , i dont even know how to ask the question because the fear is so irrational in my head, so if anyone can give some detail or if there's a expert somewhere would be great so here goes well it started when i was a teenager , and i would go to splash town and those little jets at the bottom that would shoot out water , would scare me , like during the whole trip i would be focused on not stepping on the holes on the bottom of the pool. i would be so frieghtned of being even near that. so now as a older adult wit a house to take care of with a pool , one day one of the jets would just not work rite and i had to stop the power to everything near the spa/pool equipment set up on the side of the house well, im walking towards that the sound even got me so scared and i had this big fear of even going close there, and when i got close to the pumps and jet equipments for my pool i could barely stand and not run the other way. the water going thru the see thru pumps and the water sounds of equipement humming with the 2 sewer holes to the left jus had me scared to the bone, like everything didnt matter but running the other way , now i had to get to the switches which was behind a closed drawer on the wall , in back of all this equipement and i really couldnt reach thru all that to get to the off switch , i had to summon all my courage for not messing up the pool and admitting to the rest of the family i couldnt go near there , i quickly opened the panel and hit the switch and ran as fast as i could , to this day i dont know why i was so scared until recently i had to change the switch in the back inside of the toilet the part that connects to the big black thing inside that controlls the flow of the toilet , so as soon as i open the toilet cover i see the water stuff ,lil pumps , that big bouncing ball , with a hole in the bottom that sucked all the water to this unknown place , and i swear to god i couldnt ever get the nerve to completely fix it , it seems water equipment like damns also give me this big fear when i get close to it . i really dont even know how to approach asking a normal person about this so i would like to know if theres someone that could enlighten me about this irrational fear i tink i have. thanks antony ive tried google but it doesnt even generate anything usefull, sorry for spelling
Looking for a Pool Expert-Help Needed? I have a DE hayward filter for an inground pool. When I turn on the pump, it runs at about ~15psi, and about an hour to 2 hours later, it's jumps to 20-25psi and there's little to no flow of water coming out of the return jets. What I tried: -I unscrewed the top of the filter expecting there to be gunks of DE powder clogging it or something like that..there was some old DE powder, but not enough to really affect anything, but I gave it a good rinse with the powerhose anyway. End Result-No solution to my problem. -I backwashed the filter and added new DE powder. backwashing the filter always seems to make the return jet strong, but again...after about an hour, the flow weakens and the psi is back at 20-25psi. I honestly don't know what the problem is.
How to build a supercharged 350 (for serious engine builders)? I want to rebuild my 350 in the future with a Weiand blower kit, and I was wondering what heads/cam I should go with. I want to make at least 450 gross horsepower on 92 octane pump gas, and lots of torque (close to 500 lb ft or more would be good) I don't want to spend more than about 4-5 grand on parts. This is what I'm considering so far: -Overbore to 355ci -This blower kit: http://www.jegs.com/p/Weiand/763758/10002/-1 -750cfm Holley carburetor or 800cfm Q-Jet -Headers, free flowing duals, Flowmaster mufflers What would be a good set of reasonably priced performance heads to go with, and what cam would be appropriate? I basically want to make a lot of street-able horsepower with a mild blower kit, because I like the appearance and sound of blowers. Plus the make a lot of torque. Thanks! The boost can be adjustable depending on the pulley used, but it usually runs about 6psi.
How many hours can you use a pressure washer before you need to change the oil? I Have a 4 year old Troy-Bilt 4.5HP 2200 Psi Pressure Washer. ive recently bored out the Inflow/outflow of the pump increasing the water flow, put a high performance spark plug and put bigger jets on the carburetor. and i began using 93 octane Shell V-power Nitrogen enriched fuel. My pressure washer cleans better then my friends 2800 Psi washer. but my question is how many hours can i go until i need to change my oil, im curious because of my recent modifications im sure the motor is harder on oil.
If my motorcycle slowly accelerates fine, but boggs down when throttle is suddenly opened, what should I do? I have a 1986 Yamaha FZ750 with Mikuni carbs, which I recently changed the main jets in. I also adjusted the needle jet clip position. The bike runs well at every throttle position, but if you suddenly open the throttle, it hesitates. If you then ease back off the throttle, it will catch up and begin accelerating. I changed the main jet, because someone put very large jets in it, and it was flooding itself out. It would run much better with the air filters off. It has aftermarket exhaust, as well as K&N air filters. I changed the main jets back to the stock #105, and it ran lean, so I moved up to a #110, and moved the needle jet clip position to the top notch. I have tried everything I know, and now I'm stuck. I'm thinking I may need to adjust the accelerator pump, but I am not sure how. If I adjust the a/p screw counter-clockwise, will this then inject enough gas into the carbs when the throttle is opened to make up for the increase in air flow?

Saltwater Tank oxygen distribution problems!!!? I have an 8.8 gallon saltwater tank. I just recently discovered that the reason many of my bottom dwelling fish were dying is the fact that the oxygen distribution in the tank was not high enough, that is to say I did not have enough vertical water flow. I do have 11little water jets that are part of my filter that shoot water down, but the bubbles only go down about 3 inches or so, and the tank is roughly a foot high. I have put a little aquarium pump in there, and I know thats not ideal, but its all i have to work with. Anyone that knows anything about this, please give me the best advice you can, because I am eager to replace my fish, but I dont want them just dying again. Thanks guys.
pool plumbing question? I believe i have a clogged drain.Everything was fine and the pool was primed up good.I vacuumed through the skimmer after i shoveled as much leaves out as possible.I was almost finished and the pump lost prime.I havent been able to get it back to a full prime.I have checked everything to my ability. The impeller is clear and in working order. The pump surges. It will fill up half way and then go back down again.I have used a drain jet/drain king on it both ways.I have managed to see some leaves float out here and there. It has some flow of water but not much. The pressure might get up to five psi.Ive tried a snake and havent had much luck.I cant imagine there being a crack in one of the pipes cause the water level is still good and full.Im running out of ideas here and i cannot think why all the prime is gone.Ive heard of using compressed air and i havent tried that yet.I could also be wrong and maybe there is something else wrong other then clogged plumbing. The pool has one skimmer and a main drain. If anybody can help me solve this that would be great.
Why are my spa jets not working correctly? I have recently drained my spa to clean it (under-ground level) and filled it back up. When I did this, a small amount of air did suck into the system. The Spa, before this problem would shoot out the pumps at a high speed when both were pointed to the "Spa Side", psi of filter unknown. Now, the spa will pump out hot water, but the flow is not nearly as strong as it used to be and only small air bubbles out of a few of the jets. Please help with this with any information that you can provide. Equipment: Filter: American Products Model #: 56628100; PSI when running spa pump=4 psi Heater: LoarsLite Flextemp Pump: Pentiar WhisperFlow
Just drained in ground spa.? I was able to find out how to drain the water from an in-ground spa. I have filled the spa back up, and when I turn the pump on to provide the jets and the automatic feed of the chemicals, all that happens is the water is drained back out of the pool. I have turned all valves back to the original position they were at before I drained the pool, but there is no water flow into the pool now. I am using a WhisperFlo WFE-4 pump. There sounds to be some air in the pump lines, but I can not find the air-release valve to allow for this air to be pushed out. Any help you can give me is appreciated. The pump is a self priming pump. I tried adding water to the line with a garden hose, it just drains right out. I have an automatic bromine feeder, and when I tried to add water through that, it just drains out as well. I am stumped on this one.
ford cortina mk3 suspension upgrade & tech questions? Hi there - having just rebuilt my 1600gt kent i have some questions for the aussies as I know u guys are ford freaks! My specs: 1973 mk3 cortina 1600GT kent X flow 3.0 litre valves Ported Wild cat branch + 2" exhaust 234 cam 1300 pistons (comp ratio = 10.3) moderately lightened fly wheel internally balanced (incl flywheel/clutch) rebored .60 over / new pistons / rings Weber 32/36 (jet reccommendations for this setup?) Carb: I have a 32/36 dgv - but at wot the car picks up speed pretty well - then totally stalls after a few seconds - when revs have dropped she picks up again. choke is off, carb cleaned VERY well.. could it be fuel pump? if not what else? Lean primaries?? my jet sizes are about in the middle according to some reading ive done - ie not leanest/factory setup and also not the biggest (which i should prob get given the valve sizes)... Suspension: I wanted to lift the rear of the car about 4 inches to fit slightly larger rear wheels and give it a moderately aggressive look. I bought 2 mercedes benz springs (they were about 4mm thicker and about 3" longer). I removed the rubbers ontop of the old springs as the mercs coils were cut flat (is this ok?), and heated up the lower coil to make a very similar pigtail like the ford had to mount at the bottom. I installed longer shocks to compensate for the extra length of operation - the mountings were in gr8 shape and sit very tight like the previous ones. After installing them the car was pretty high (prob a bit much by about 3") - i noticed the diff had bent forward a few degrees, i assume the extra stifness from the springs are pushing the diff forward - i guess i need to lengthen the top struts before putitng in the springs which shd push the diff up a bit from stock and settle around right with the springs back in. The spring coils at the rear sit with the diff mount actually sitting between 2 coils, i cant remember how much clearance there was but the merc springs are only about 3-6mm wider depending on how i mount the pig tail over the jutting point - there is no way to get the two apart - i guess its imperative that springs dont chaff against anything during operation? I will have to figure out a way to clear this - perhaps heat up the pigtails and bend them off center which should align the spring more forward and away from the diff?? ** are poly bushes THAT good? when i get this all sorted will it make a difference if i replace mine? I wanted stiffer suspension to give slightly better handling at the cost of a bit of comfort... should i get the same spring strenght but longer or should i shorten the mercedes ones i have now? they seem pretty stiff and i thought that would add driveability. When i took it for a drive - when i reached about 40km's / hr - free wheeled and released the clutch it made a rather harsh knocking sound at the rear - could this be the stiff suspension or the diff pulling at the prop?? like i said the diff nose has fallen about 15/20 degrees from horizontal. I used to have about 15degrees of free play on the diff when the car was stationery but thats gone now - i can only deem this problematic? ie i should lengthen the top struts to push diff upwards more? Round tubing should do the job, or is the u shaped design better (less twist?). Would 3.0 lt granada springs fit / be a good spring upgrade option? I know there was a performance upgrade and the granadas parts were compatible.. Brakes: I see the rear slaves are leaking, and im inclined to get slaves off another car, the granada has good front brakes (large pads?) - apparently these fit in with removal of the dust plate? Im in 2 minds to get a modern cars master cylinder and attach it to my current lines, or should i hone mine? Modern cars seem to have really good brakes and i would assume its the new condition of the seals/master? Anyway - its a long ramble i know - but any thoughts wd be appreciated. I do my own work with some challenges i can save alot of money so pls dont send me links to race part suppliers or tell me to go have the lot done at engineers etc as i will 'thumbs down' yr answer! Im an old car lover and as such am a diy'er where i am capable. Things ive done in the past that might help in understanding my experience... Rebuilt baike and car engines (+- 10 total) past ten years. Valve seat jobs, decking, etc etc. Lifted rear suspension on pickup which was straight forward though. Ive rebuilt brakes and calipers a few times, incl struts, fork internals, etc.. I thinkj I have a good enough history to make this thru but ive never played with stiffer/longer springs and diffs etc so this is a bit of new ground to me, nonetheless very interesting - esp when i get it sorted :)
gas flowed out of carbs. 1984 yamaha venture? ok i had my bike stored for about 5 months in a heated garage. i replaced the BATTERY turned on the ignition heard the electric fuel pump kick in. air CONTROLLER pumped up the shocks. bike was hard to start i held the choke lever it started. i looked down and saw about a pint of gas on the ground? dead center of the bike? i shut down the bike. cleaned up the gas spill moved the bike away from that area restarted the bike. no gas flow. thank god. but bike idles Very rough . is the idle jets plugged now? she lopes when she idles? tach goes from like 850 rpms up to about 1000 then drops again. im thinking possible dried out rubber connectors from carbs to engine forgot what they call them? or maybe need new air filter? i am going to take it in for a proper tune up. just hope it makesthe 12 mile one way trip. also forgot to mention it back fires a little when i rev it and then let off. it back fires or should i say pops? out right hand exhaust. i used to be able to take carbs apart by my self but with 2 missing fingers now its not easy so wwhatwould a good carb clean and tune up cost? all of you are right on the money. like the number 3 person. way of thinking. im a old school mechanic. but being partly disabled . i never thought about teaching some one some of the old ways. never though some kid would like to learn this?? with all this modern stuff these days. mostly they want to learn on these new harleys and stuff. so i shopped around found a high school here that does small engine classes. talked to a old teacher there explained my problems. he said i have just the kid for you. bring in the bike. and after school we will teach him. well today the kid pulled my carbs off. we watched him. he did 2 of them so far. rebuilding. them. he will do the other 2 tomorrow. as it took him 45 minutes per carb. not bad!! but had to go home before he could do other 2. and then i will teach him the old mercury synch. and i will be good to go. also i now have . a part time after school teaching job. how to repair old bikes.basic course.

Best nozzle shape for "long" range high velocity fluid stream? I am currently in the process of building what is currently an electric water gun, powered by an electric fuel pump. The fluid is taken straight from a reservoir and pumped through a small nozzle to significantly increase the fluid velocity. The fuel pump puts out around 3bar (45psi) at a relatively low flow rate, it will not struggle until the exit nozzle has a diameter of 1mm, at which point the flow rate starts to decrease. My issue is that the shape and crudity of my nozzle (simply turned on a lathe, small hole through a sized aluminium cylinder) is not optimized for containment of a fluid stream over longer distances, currently with a 1mm and 1.5mm nozzle tested, the stream breaks up at a couple meters, although the water can actually reach near 10 meters, at a distance less than the break up distance from the nozzle, the stream is very clean, a respectable high speed water jet. I want to know what nozzle shape is best in terms of longer stream containment ranges, like a converging nozzle on a waterjet cutter? I have tried a crude diverging exit nozzle, which unsuprisingly worsened the effect. Any help with regard to this would be greatly appreciated.
Chevy C30 -- Wont Run -- Fuel Delivery Problem? I have a 93 chevy c30 (rv chassis) that wont run. It sat for 2 years until I had the time to work on the RV part. I'm ready for it to run, so I drained all the gas from the tank (it was an orangish & smelly). I put new fuel in and started cranking. Nothing came out of the jets and it never turned over. To diagnose, I disconnected every fuel line coupling to check for a clog. During each disconnect, I turned the key forward to kick on the fuel pump and prime the system. The pump works and fuel comes through the lines (its not a forced flow, more like a smooth stream). I have fuel all the way up to the throttle body. Theres no fuel from the jets and no fuel going through the return (if I remember correctly). The fuel injectors read 1.3ohms (which is correct). I don't have a node light, but hooking up the voltometer gave me a fluctuating power reading from each connector during crank. I don't know what else could be wrong. If.... I don't know what else could be wrong. If there was fuel coming out the jets I'd have an easier time diagnosing, but I dont. I dont fully know the inner-working of a TBI system, so I don't know if theres a possibility for a clog inside, etc. I wanted to ask for suggestions here before I pull anything else apart. Thanks!
Quick Troubleshooting question for JS550 engine? stupid newbie question here, I know very little about these engines. I picked up a kawasaki js550 jet ski that had sat up for a while and am working on getting it started. Replaced the battery, cleaned the gas tank, mixed gas and tried but it did not crank. I then sprayed some ether in the carb and it will start just for a second so it's getting spark and everything. Started diconecting fuel lines from the carb and noticed that they are dry and not pumping. tried to turn it over then and am not getting any flow still. Anyone know where I should go from here on troubleshooting this?
have a honda 9.9 outbd mtr. it will run for a short time after being primed but dies shortly. Suggestions?? The diaphragms for the fuel pump have been replaced, the carb. was removed, float removed and all was soaked for about 2 hrs. then cleaner and air was blown through all jets, etc.,fuel line from gas tank to motor was replaced also>(fuel flows in direction of arrow on bulb) Help please. Fuel does not seem to want to travel from fuel pump to carb???????? This is a 4 stroke 1999 model
Writers: I want to write a book. But is my writing poetential there?? Please tell me what you think of this? This a part of a story I want to write set in South Africa (where I live). This is about one of my characters history (escaping Zimbabwe into SA) PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF MY WRITING IS WORTH PERSUING. Im sorry if its long. ------------------------ They claimed it would cost them R200 each to cross the border. In Africa money is hailed like the gods, Selina was aware of that doctrine and she had to buy her freedom through pious loyalty of such preaching. On this land the drums beat to the rhythm of revenue, the beads of red, blue and orange, bloated with buoyancy, are threaded for the making of that little-bit-extra not as rescue missions to savour fading histories. In Africa government houses chant with hallow debate because all ears are fixed on the lyrical lyre of the dollar. For it is where politicians and businessmen are synonymous terms… and it’s called an example of ‘developmental democracy’. Money is the emerald blood that channels through the black markets. Row after row of vendors, stick stalls, carpets and people form the veins, thick and thin…a hundred and a thousand tiny lines stretching across capitals, towns and villages. The hemoglobin flow of estranged heads on bronze or some other rusty colour fill cities with fraud, ‘favours’, blackmails and business contracts. The notes of minted green flow from dirt-hibernating pocket to pocket. The money itself almost tastes of blood. This need brings only more poverty and licenses greed and Selina saw it. She had lived it until she could not breathe the choking dirt any longer. Squinting up at paper planes and kites that litter the Gweru sky she waits for their secret meeting to materialise. All of the flying toys are made up of Zim dollars. With freshly ‘passed by parliament’ billion dollar notes the older ones are used by the children to build jets and towers of money, racing each other to see who can stack the most in the fastest time. Zimbabwe is on life-support. But for how long can oxygen be artificially pumped in a body that is terminally paralysed? She didn’t believe in euthanasia but hope seemed more sacrilegious than ever. As she waits by a pineapple and chille stall somewhere in the market her gaze is torn from a particularly amusing tower of notes toppling to the ground to another young child, a bright blue spot, weaving through the crowds of brown, black and white, running in her direction. The pace of his legs reminds her of small turbines as he draws nearer. She watches him turn his face to glance back at who it was that was chasing him but he isn’t quick enough and, in shock, she doesn’t have time to move out of the way and like a train collision, he hits the ground that coughs up a spray of dust in ill-fated complaint. “Are you alright?” Selina holds out a hand and helps the boy to his feet. She can’t help but note the skeletal feel of his fingers reminding her of the chicken necks they would suck at as children. He places his bony hands on his excuses for knee caps and breathes tightly as if he didn’t hear her. Staring at the bag he is gripping around his tiny fist he suddenly remembers the barrier that had halted his escape and his eyes flash both fear and shock as he cuts her an upward look. The bag looks like its filled with sugar and he held onto it as if it were filled with diamonds that he, himself, had mined. Without a word he turns away from her and hurtles back into the crowd. She checks her watch, broken in the middle, but the roman numerals are still visible. 5:17pm. Daya was late and Rahul and the trafficker are nowhere in sight. Could someone have tipped them off? Maybe Daya had changed her mind, like she is beginning to feel… that all too familiar sinking sickness in the pit of her stomach. She tightens the blanket she has wrapped around her to keep Moyo warm on her back as she scans the now filtering crowds. Watching them, the scent of afternoon tea that the vendors drink flows past her nose, lazy-like, on the breeze that meandered through the people. It took her back to a time on a farm just outside Bulawayo. ---------------------------- (there's more...) I know Im sometimes verbose?? Is the writing good? BE BRUTAL if you must. How would you convert a salt water fish tank to frest wanter. Would you use the existing components? Hey Fish Keepers. I got a fish tank which was originally used for salt water. I would like to use it for freshwater fish. It came with all the filters, pumps, media storage boxes that a salt water tank comes with. IT IS HUGE. The tank is 200 gallons, and each side of the tank is isolated from the rest. It has 2 tubes, one which has holes in it and the water falls from top of the tank and flows thru them into the media box, and the other pumps the water out of the filter into the tank. There is also a protein skimmer, and a couple of jets. So, in the end, would you reuse the existing components? Would you replace the original media with media used in freshwater? What should I do. Please help.
