What does a deep well pump well cap do exactly? I am about to try to instal a above ground deep well pump, and it asks for a well cap, but I can't find one the size of the hole. I was wondering what exactly does a well cap do? Will it make a difference if I do not use one? Will the pump still function? Thanks for any help.
How do you replace a deep well pump? I have replaced the pressure switch and added some air to the tank, wich has a bladder in it. I don't know if I need to replace the pump, wich is a deep water well. My problem is that I have low water pressure and I'm not shure where to go from here. Any help would very much appreciated.
How can I get correct pressure on a 1 HP flow tech jet deep well pump? I just got a new 1 HP flow tech jet deep well pump. I set it up like I had the previous pump, which was working fine. However, I am not getting past 15 PSI on my pressure gauge. I have already primed the pump 2 or 3 times, but it doesn't go past 15 PSI. I want to know what I need to do. Any tips?
Deep well pump troubleshooting? I am replacing my deep well pump and can't get it right? there seems to be air in the lines but I have already replaced the lines in the well? I have primed the pump and used soapy water, Any ideas? yes that is true in a submersible pump but I have one that is in the basement, there is a jet in the well that is submersed in water.
Why wont my new deep well pump stay charged.? Me and my son just installed a a deep well pump. Everything seemed to check out correctly, but after about a minute or two the pump just stops. It is like it is over heating or something, yet everything that the book says to do is done, can someone please help!! It is 50 feet, it is an above ground pump, and it is warm to the touch, but not hot, hot. I missed one thing, yes the pump is shutting off before it reaches pressure settings.
Why wont my deep well pump turn on? I got a new deep well pump, but needed a new pressure tank. Before I would turn it on it would turn right back off. Now I have brought a new pressure tank but now the tank is not turning on at all. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?
how do i pump our deep well water using a ram pump? we have a deep well at home and i use a pump to drive it into our storage tank. we do have another water source from irrigation but it is not safe to use. i have read that a ram pump made from the irrigation system can drive our deep well water instead of using an electric pump. i know one way but it would make it more complicated like using the water force to run a windmill-like system that is connected to our deep well system. i am hoping there is a simple way.
deep well pump? My house uses a deep well pump for water and it is located in my basement. Everytime I lose power for a few hours the pump loses pressure and when it the power comes back on the pump just buzzes.I have to prime the pump several times to get the pressure up again. My question is if I away for a few days and I lose power will that burn out my pump if its just buzzing and has no water flowing thru it?
STAR brand deep well pump cost? The pump for my well went out and I was told if I can find another pump of the same brand it would be easier then to get a different brand because I would have to replace some of the parts. I have been trying to find a STAR 3/4 horse power Deep well pump but I am not having any luck. Is it something I can call any hardware store and have them pre-order it or can I find it cheaper online? Can anyone on here help? Thank you in advance.
Ideas for well pump 25 ft deep watering 1/4 acre lawn? I have a well on my land thats about 25 ft deep and would like to pump water for 1/4 acre of lawn. Tried to buy a cheap "shallow well" pump that didnt work. Any suggestions? I can pipe the thing myself but dont know what to buy. This is for Northern California.
Deep well pump keeps losing prime? I have a 50 ft deep well and a single line in deep well jet pump above ground. There was a cold winter snap a few weeks ago freezing up the small pressure switch pipes on the pump. Since I am away from home for school my mom got the neighbor to check out the pump and I found out they disconnected the pump and replaced the impeller with a new spare one we had. However now about every week and a half the pump gets enough air in the impeller to stop it from pumping. I'm thinking that the seal where the hose from the well connects to the pump may have a small leak in it and is sucking in a very small amount of air since it was disconnected when replacing the impeller. Any suggestions on what to check would be helpful when I go home this weekend thanks.
Why wont my deep well pump go till it reaches pressure setting? Me and my son just installed a a deep well pump. Everything seemed to check out correctly, but after about a minute or two the pump just stops. It is like it is over heating or something, yet everything that the book says to do is done, can someone please help!! 37 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details It is 50 feet, it is an above ground pump, and it is warm to the touch, but not hot, hot. I missed one thing, yes the pump is shutting off before it reaches pressure settings. The set up I have is two pipes. It uses one pipe for pulling up the water and the other pipe is for air pressure. It is suppose to go up to 90 feet wells The pump seems to pump about 3 gallons, and then shuts off. In about 20 minutes or so it pumps the same amount and shuts off again
Could there be something wrong with the check valve in my deep well pump? Our deep well pump was cycling on and off about every 40 seconds. The well is 250 ft. deep. Many people suggested draining the water holding tank to make sure it was not water logged. We drained the tank, put the pressure to 38 psi. The cycling on and off still continued. It stays off for 35 seconds then on for one minute and 15 seconds. Then we turned off the main water inlet valve in order to isolate the pump and the water tank from the house. Somone had suggested that on our first question. After we turned off the main water inlet valve to the house, the cycling continued. Any suggestions as to what it could be? If it is a check valve, is that something someone could repair on their own?
cannot get my new deep well water convertible jet pump to prime? my well is 72 ft. deep, approx. 40 years old. have been using shallow well pumps,3/4 hp., the whole time with great results. Lawn sprinkler repair man replaced with convertible deep well jet pump, also he installed "short" venturi tube into ejector. {shallow well pump bit dust during freeze, not winterized properly}. We cannot get pump to pick up prime. I have filled 72 ft. pipe full of water and filled primer plug hole with water, I can place hand over pipe and feel strong suction when pump is running, so i feel like pump is providing good negative pressure to system...but prime will not pick up. Pump motor is set to correct watt/amp of 115. Air tank is new with pressure set at 18 lbs., pressure switch is 20-40psi {basically irrelevent at this point} Things I'm not sure of: 1- If well ran dry 2-If pipe has deteriorated/has a hole. 3- what is at bottom of 40 yo pipe...footvalve? screen? ect. 4- if well collapsed {won't prime, so don't know if sediment is present. What should I do at this point? Well is only used for lawn sprinkler system. House is on city water. Only 1 pipe exits ground going to pump with one inline brand new brass check valve. Repairman suggests installing pvc pipe down inside steel pipe {72 ft.} at a cost of $300.00 bucks. I figure water should be located first. I live in Tidewater, Va., and I believe we are in some form of a drought, we are 7 inches shy of water according to news orgs. Any suggestions or information will be greatly appreciated.

i have a 45 feet deep well the water tank is about 60 feet from water.what pump i need to get water to tank? house well 45 feet deep.water is rising and lowering daily about 5 to 9 feet.the house is 3 storied.the water tank is at the top and is about 30 feet from ground and about 60 feet from water.what type of pump will be perfect for pulling water from 35 feet and sending water to the tank.the water pump cannot be fixed right on top of the well due to design problem and it is to be fixed 10 feet away from the well at floor.please advise.
Need help on how to extract deep well pump with nothing attached to it and staying in place twenty feet down? we just recently replaced our well pump, the pump quit working or so we thought, we checked power to it, there was power to it and it wasn't pumping. after checking some more we found that plastic pipe had come loose from the steel pipe it was connected to at the top so the pump and hose had dropped down about twenty feet pulling the wire apart from the motor at the top. We tried extracting the pump with the rope that we had tied to the motor and it broke. The top of the pipe is about twenty or so feet down because I can see it. Is there anything we can do at this point or a well service that can get the pump or pipe out. It remains in place and did not drop all the way down. Please anyone
How deep will a hand pump pump well water? I have a an unused well and would like to put in a hand pump. Just one of those cheap ones from Northern tool. I tried to measure the water depth and came up with about 30' to the water line. It is a 30 inch diameter well.I don't know the total depth. I just want to be able to get water when the power goes out (again).
generator to control box to well pump wiring? 1) Generator has NEMA L14-30 3 Pole 4 Wire plug 2) overheat switch 3) well control box 4) 4 wire (incld. ground wire) 220v deep well pump need help to wire this setup to get water. thanks
Deep Well Pump 220v - 1 phase normal amps, other spiking high - no visible shorts - could it be the pump? Should I keep looking for a short.....Pump runs with good pressure until breaker blows of course. Good 220v at switch - 110v on each phase. Can a pump or 220v motor fail showing this symptom or "keep looking for the short? Thank you! First, thank all of you for your time. The torque scenario makes a lot of sense and the seal leak also makes great sense. Normal amp draw is approx. 6amp. The switch is good for sure. I swapped the phase from one side of the switch to the other and the short (amp spike) followed, verifying the short is in the well. If all of you are correct, then it's likely that my pump is OK and the abrasion from the torque over time rubbed the insulation and is causing the short. If you feel I missed something please clarify, but again, I can't thank you enough for your time. I'll be sure to keep you posted as to the result. Now I have to pull the pump (40' -ouch) and look for the abrasion. Peace Mark G....Thanks....I think you are right on and obvious a very nice person. Mark G, I found the short half way down the well from rubbing/abrasion. Pulled the pump, replaced the wires and it's working perfect. Thank you for you advice!!!! Keith O
What is wrong with my deep well submersible pump system once again? I have a 375 ft submersed well and pump system. I can get water but every so often the pressure totally falls to zero (at the pressure gauge) and the water stops for about 5 min. then the system cuts back on and everything is fine. The pump is only 2 years old and I just replaced the pressure switch (30/50). the tank is fine and holding pressure at about 27 lbs of air in the bladder. What do you think the cause could be? I'm thinking an electrical short? Some blockage in the line? the water runs very clean.....could it be a sticking foot valve?? (I hope not)..please help! BTW when I replaced the pressure switch, it took about 5 min after I turned the breaker on for the pump to start again.....some more info: when the pressure gets to 30 lbs on the gauge, and when the pump is suppose to kick on, the pressure switch clicks, but the pump doesn't turn on for a min or 5.

Thanks for your help! here's more info....when the pressure get to 30 lbs on the gauge, and when the pump is suppose to kick on, the pressure suddenly drops to 0. It doesn't short cycle or run abnormally at all. It always seems normal except when the pressure falls out for the 5 min. period. Finally when we first started having this problem back in May, when I initially checked the pressure in the tank it was at 46 or so lbs.. so I deflated it (with all water out of the system) and refilled it back to about 29 lbs. I'll get a true reading later today and set it at 27 lbs.

deep-well water system keeps clicking on and off and not sure if it is working correctly? I have a deep well with a 52 gallon wellsaver tank on the system and the well pump keeps clicking on and off. It took alot of pressure just to get the thing to work. Am I correct in thinking that I need a new tank. Someone told me that the bladder was going. (widow- haven't had to deal with this yet) Thank you ahead for any information that you can provide.
Principle of self priming, deep well pumps? Hi, I am working on a paper for school and I am using sources that are in English. My main problem is now the term "self priming"? I understand the word priming, but not together in the context with deep well pumps. Thanks in advance for any kind of help from you guys.
problem with well water pump? no water is running my deep well pump kicks on every 15 min. it runs for 1-2 min when it kicks off then a noise like someone threw a ball against the house. can you help
Well pumps and depth of pipe into ground? My deep well pump was replaced by a new shallow well pump that I purchased. The depth of the pipe into the well is 50 ft. The new shallow well pump loses its prime. The water level is about 15 ft. Do I need to cut off the 50 ft pipe to 20 or 25 ft. One guy said it didn't matter, that it is only lifting the water 15 ft, where the water level is. I bought the pump and tank myself, now I can't get a well driller company to come out and help me. The job is too small. I am a retired widow and I thought my handyman could do the job but he has given up. My lesson in this is to buy from someone that installs. It is hard to get an expert to solve a problem when they are not making a sale on the equipment.
I'm having problems with my well pump....? I have a deep well and my pump is screwing up. After I prime it, it seems to pump the water into the tank fine, but then the pump cuts off and the water is forced back down the well. And, I have to start all over again. Can anyone give me some ideas?
I installed a 1hp pump in a 110 feet deep well and all worked for a year. The pump stopped abruptly.? I checked the wiring and have 220 at well cap, but NO amps being drawn. I assume a wire has failed or the pump is dead. Is pulling the pump the only way to diagnoose the problem? I received a lot of good suggestions. Thanks. A few more details. The pump is set 10-12 feet off the bottom of the well. I have released air from the tank to try to trip the pressure switch and have manually pressed the contacts on the pressure switch. I was very careful when splicing the wires to the pump and cleaned the wires before heating the shrinks, I installed anti-torque device and spacers every 20 feet or so. Does anyone know what the resistance should be across the wires going to the motor that might tell me whether the motor is shorted or a wire is open.
